Smith Family | Bartlesville In-Home Family Photographer

I am so excited to introduce the Smith family on the blog today! Meet Luke, Hanna, and little Abby! These three invited me to be their Bartlesville in-home family photographer and it was a joy to capture them in a place that is so dear and special, with the people they love the most.

After spending the last year + some renovating our own home, I understand how sentimental it is to have photos taken between the walls where everyday life is lived. I am so thankful that others feel the same way, and that families like the Smiths are willing to go the extra mile to capture their memories in their homes! It is not always easy to get everything together for a photoshoot, let alone a photoshoot inside your house! I learned this earlier this year when Laura took my branding photos at home – I had no idea how many piles of clutter I had until I was trying to put away all the extra “life things” like un-filed mail and the dish soap dispenser, hah! The Smith’s home was so warm and welcoming and was the perfect place for their family session.

One of my favorite parts of our session was getting to head out to their backyard for the second half of the shoot. They have such a great setup – beautiful trees and foliage and of course we caught it just in time for perfect golden hour light! Their house also sits up on a hill so it was really nice to not have to worry about neighboring homes or a privacy fence. Not all backyards are equal, and not all backyards photograph as well as the Smith’s! It was also incredibly helpful that Hanna sent a handful of photos of each spot she hoped to use prior to our session so that I could get a sense of what the lighting and setup would be like before my arrival. Definitely something to take note of if you ever want to or plan to have photos taken at your home!

The best part is that a few months after our session, I showed up to my first post-partum workout class and Hanna was there! It’s been so wonderful to have her as a friend and workout buddy!
