Family, Faith, and Family Land | Bartlesville Photography
Bartlesville Photography Session – The Willis Family
Some sessions speak for themselves—and this one said a lot without trying too hard.
The Willis family lives in California, but they make the trip back to Oklahoma often—especially to this land in Dewey that’s been in the dad’s family for generations. It’s where we shot their session. Wide open space, worn denim, warm light… it felt like home, because it is! An iconic, familiar Oklahoma setting that reminds you what’s actually important.
I first photographed this crew back in 2021 (see the original blog post here!). I was pregnant with my first, and their youngest little boy was still a baby! Since then, we’ve built a friendship that’s grown with time. They’re former photographers—very successful ones—and now they run an incredible Pro-Life supplement company. They live their lives with purpose, and it shows. Not just in how they work, but in how they parent and carry themselves. Through their generosity and consistency, they’ve been such an inspiration to me in faith, family, and business!
As someone offering Bartlesville photography for families, I’ve photographed a lot of sessions over the years. But what stands out here isn’t just the setting or the styling—though I loved how they showed up. Their color palette was soft and grounded, with warm neutrals, denim, and layers that looked right at home on this Oklahoma land. The girls wore Rylee + Cru & Nora Lee, which always photographs beautifully. (Jamie Kay is a great similar brand if you’re looking for something more budget-friendly.) Mom’s outfit came from Carly Jean Los Angeles, a go-to if you’re wanting wardrobe pieces that feel lived-in but still put together. The texture in their clothing—cotton, linen, denim—paired with a classic Bartlesville, OK landscape gave the images such warmth and depth.
But what I’ll remember most? Their presence. Their peace. The way they just are—together, grounded, joyful. They do everything to the glory of God, and it’s not loud or performative…it’s genuine. The kind of faith and purpose that doesn’t have to be announced to be seen.
This was less about curating “perfect” portraits and more about documenting a season. Five kids growing up. A family rooted in faith. A little plot of land that holds a lot of meaning.
Grateful to know them—and to get the chance to keep telling stories like this one!
