Y’all. Austin and Maddie’s support system is amazing.

Even after photographing over two dozen proposals, I think this one is up there as one of the most thoughtful and thought THROUGH plans we’ve ever had. Maddie’s mom was a co-conspirator with Austin in their research and planning, and it was no coincidence that they both found me and shared screenshots of my work at basically the exact same time!

This downtown Tulsa proposal had my heart racing faster than almost any other proposal I’ve shot. The plan was for Austin to pick up Maddie and her twin sister, Mallory, at their apartment to bring them to their “graduation party” at a downtown Tulsa Airbnb. Once they arrived, Mallory would race in to “go help” her mom while Austin and Maddie took their time walking from the car to the house. This went off without a hitch – they walked in the front door, and Maddie had no clue what was happening until she saw a group of people through the window frame, and then turned to look at Austin’s face. It all happened SO fast! My heart was pounding FOR them, along with the rest of their family watching all teary-eyed behind me!

Proposals are typically in one of two camps: a classic, simple, setup with a special location or breathtaking backdrop OR decked out with romantic details and a picturesque setup! I LOVE both! This one had all the perfect elements – flower petals, a personalized sign, thoughtful details like the custom ring box and wine tumblrs, and a full spread of food for their after party!

I know I mentioned it above, but this Tulsa engagement was unique in that it took place in a rented Airbnb! The patio setup with a full wall of sliding glass doors was stunning. Any time you have access to (or know someone who has access to) a unique location like this, it is worth the ask! It elevates the experience, making it that much more creative and fun. This spot specifically was decked out with an amazing kitchen, twinkle lights, a speaker system perfect for a party, and right in the heart of downtown Tulsa!

Maddie couldn’t have been more blown away and proud of Austin – she had all the praise for him & couldn’t stop oohing and ahhhing over her gorgeous ring! Can you blame her though? This is unreal!! I am thrilled for these two to jump in to wedding planning and to begin enjoying all the fun that is engaged life! Congratulations to the future Porters!!

What a stunner! Sweet moments with Dad! She couldn’t stop gushing over Austin, her ring, and the big surprise! I love this! Such a classic black and white shot! I couldn’t love this one any more! We got back from a few quick portraits of these two after their proposal, and Maddie’s dad was enjoying his celebratory drink all by himself on the patio waiting for their return! The SWEETEST!!
