celebrating OU seniors and Bartlesville and Tulsa families through photography.

Hey, y’all!

I’m Melanie, the girl behind the lens at Melanie Foster Photography. Whether you’re getting ready for your upcoming OU senior or your Bartlesville or Tulsa family photography experience, I hope you’ll stay a while, pick up a few tips, and be inspired for your own MFP photo session!

Lashar Family Photos Canadian River | Norman, OK

I don’t think I know a family in Norman as loved as the Lashars! They are long-time Norman natives, cherished friends, and warm and welcoming to everyone!

I met Kelly years ago – I was a college kid looking for ways to get connected in Norman, and she was a director in Coffee Talk. We stayed in touch over the years, both attending Summit church for a time, and for the last three I’ve taken headshots for her business, Restore Behavioral Health. We have had so much overlap in so many different seasons, and I love that they have been long-time MFP clients and friends!

I have a soft spot for this sweet family, obviously because of the history, but also because they have THREE girls! I’m one of three daughters as well, so naturally it lends to understanding a bit of the dynamics. What sets them apart, though, is that I don’t think they fight, hah! They so obviously love and adore each other – they are affectionate, giggly, and so joyful! It is contagious to be around Elizabeth, Courtney, and Jaclyn!

Tim and Kelly have the relationship that girls my age pray for – after 27 years of marriage, they are just as sweet and fresh in love as ever, and that was the most fun to capture in the photos we took of just the two of them!

My favorite part of this shoot was that the Lashars thought outside of the box for their location. Obviously after living in Norman for forever, you see a lot of the same backdrops and settings – OU’s campus, downtown Norman, Sutton Park. They have some friends who have private access to the Canadian River, and they were willing to let us shoot there! I love this idea – even if you think you don’t have anywhere exciting to shoot, it never hurts to ask someone who DOES! This made our time together (and the photos) SO MEMORABLE! This sweet family that owned the property let us take their jeep and four wheelers out to the access point, and that ended up being half of the fun! It felt like we were in Jurassic Park driving out there, hah!

Forever a huge Lashar family fan!!! Thank you guys for inviting me to capture this season of life!
