Bartlesville Newborn Photographer | North Texas Motherhood Workshop

These photos were taken at a motherhood and family workshop back in March, and I love that I have the opportunity to share them with y’all! This was the sweetest family. Photographing Ann and her new little boy brought me right back to our own Bartlesville newborn photography experience. Ruth was 8 days old at the time and it was a long, long day – about four hours of shooting. But so worth it! Ruthie never liked daytime sleep as a newborn, but she especially fought naps on the day of our photos. She was kind of touch and go for most of it, but she was also wide-awake for just about the entire session with the exception of maybe 10 minutes. I kept trying to feed her to sleep out of desperation, wanting so badly to capture those sweet sleepy photos that every mom dreams of! Our photographer made the most of our bright-eyed and bushy-tailed little girl with some of the most precious captures. I think some of my favorites from the day were the ones of just Ruth and Jonathan, but we did manage to catch a few with her eyes closed! 🙂 I love those photos even more now than I did the day we received them. If you’re on the fence about getting newborn photos, there is always a chance you would regret NOT getting them, but you will not regret GETTING them.

Those first few weeks postpartum are so fragile for both mom and baby…everything is so fresh. You’re still recovering, adjusting to a very different body, smitten with this little life you created, worrying about little things and big things, trying to get to know your baby, desperate for uninterrupted sleep, and figuring out a new dynamic with another little one in the mix. All those feelings came flooding back to me during this shoot/workshop, and I wanted Ann to have a couple moments in between each photographer’s set time to shoot to take a break and breathe for a bit. You guys know how much hard work it is being in front of the camera, even just yourself, let alone with your kids and husband AND you’ve just given birth!

One of the ways I am excited to help ease the stress of a Bartlesville newborn session is through the client wardrobe. I’ve been adding a variety of dresses to the curated collection of dresses mamas can borrow for their full lifestyle shoots. Whether it’s for maternity photos, newborn photos, or family photos, I have some darling midi and maxi dresses that are flexible in size and shape – perfect for postpartum when you have no idea what size you’ll be! I actually have the dress Ann is wearing in these photos for the closet and as you can see here and here, it photographs like a dream!
