Kern Family | Plano Family Photographer | Private Residence Photos

My second shoot of the year and it couldn’t be a more perfect family! Just one quick scroll through this post and you’ll see what I mean – the Kern family is absolutely gorgeous. And they couldn’t have been more warm or endearing! What makes this so fun is that I don’t remember a time in my life when I didn’t know the Kern’s. I grew up in Plano with their youngest, Kourtney (in the black dress!), and have so many vivid memories with her from elementary and middle school. After my family moved to Chicago in high school, we lost touch, but I recently reconnected with Alexa (on the far right in the photo above!) on Instagram and was thrilled when she reached out about booking a family session while I was in Plano for the weekend!

One of the things I love about this family is that they have three girls all just about the same ages as me and my two sisters! It was so fun to watch their dynamic, and I so appreciated how much of a trooper Mr. Kern was with his girls and all the photos! Although I know they’ve had plenty of practice – they are KNOWN for their stunning family Christmas cards every year. Growing up, I remember getting their picture in the mail around the holidays and it always looked like it was straight out of a magazine! I definitely wanted to meet their expectations for these images, and knew I had a lot to live up to! As we started shooting, I realized they don’t take a bad photo – any of them!! They were so comfortable with each other and in front of the camera and I think that came across in these photos. Especially Mr. and Mrs. Kern!!! The portraits of the two of them by themselves are the cutest. I love getting to pull moms and dads and photograph them with each other.

It was a pleasure getting together with this sweet southern family. You know it’s a good shoot when Jonathan (my extra special assistant) didn’t want to leave either! Hah! He told me after we got in the car that he hadn’t seen me enjoy a session as much as I did this evening, and he was 100% right! I love the Kerns, and I love these Plano family photos!!! Enjoy!
