“Our story started in 2011, near the end of my freshman year of high school. Our best friends were dating each other, and wanted another couple to hang out with (thanks Rachel and Derick). High school was filled with double dates, limited text messaging, and hanging out by each other’s lockers after school. Scott graduated a year before me and moved to Tulsa for college, beginning our first year of long-distance.
Being ten hours away from each other for a year was definitely a growing process- we learned a lot about communication, trust, and growing up since we only saw each other on the occasional holiday. The year came and went pretty quickly until I joined him in the great state of red dirt and tumbleweeds.
Once I moved to Oklahoma City, our long-distance was cut to just an hour and a half drive! Being far from Iowa for the first time, we were a little piece of “home” for each other. Some of my favorite moments with Scott have been getting to explore and experience this new state together. We spend most of our time in coffee shops, taking cheesy pictures in parking garages, and eating pie. On June 25th, 2017, Scott asked me to be his forever in Rockport, Massachusetts. It was a day filled with brunch, ocean, views, coffee, and taking it slow. It couldn’t have been a more memorable day, and it was the easiest “yes” of my life.
After June 2nd, 2018 we will officially live in the same city for the first time in five years, and cannot wait to start doing life together as husband and wife!”
