Josie & Alex – Downtown OKC Proposal Photographer

Proposal

Words are hard. Especially for this blog post.

I met Josie about three years ago in a very vulnerable time in her life. Josie, her family, and the Witcher family allowed me the honor to tell part of their story through a video I produced for my senior project and I will forever be so thankful for that privilege. It’s so hard to put words together for this post because I value her and her trust so much. And I have always felt that my words won’t carry the weight they deserve when describing her fierceness, independence, and confidence.

Thankfully, we’ve kept in touch since the project wrapped & I specifically remember receiving a text from Josie earlier this year. It said something along the lines of – when I get engaged, you are shooting my proposal. She sent my phone number to her boyfriend, Alex, that day.

You can imagine the smile on my face when I got THE message from THE Alex a couple of months later. The plans were coming together and he was getting ready to pop the question! There was no chance I wouldn’t take up the opportunity to be there to celebrate them!

I have a couple of favorite parts about this proposal. 1. Alex chose a location that is meaningful to both of them. Josie and her dear friends often visited this wall in college and took mass amounts of photos, as girls do, and it became an iconic place for them. Then, when I was at Alex’s family’s home later that evening for the party, his mom was showing me one of Alex’s senior photos – they took it in the exact same spot he proposed. 2. Josie was excited, but also so calm. I tend to feed off of the energy of others during shoots and there was a peace about her that kept me focused and composed the whole time and I absolutely loved it. If you’ve ever shot with me, I can be a bit scattered because I am so excited. I like to have a plan, knowing that I will jump all over the place as soon as I start seeing different locations and good light. It was an incredible change in pace for me. 3. These two got to enjoy a dinner together – just the two of them – after we wrapped up with a couple photos. I love that they gave themselves time to enjoy the moment and take it all in! They had the big party with SO many friends and family later in the evening!

Congratulations to these two!! Excited for this fun season of life for you both!
