celebrating OU seniors and Bartlesville and Tulsa families through photography.

Hey, y’all!

I’m Melanie, the girl behind the lens at Melanie Foster Photography. Whether you’re getting ready for your upcoming OU senior or your Bartlesville or Tulsa family photography experience, I hope you’ll stay a while, pick up a few tips, and be inspired for your own MFP photo session!

A West Virginia boy who is as athletic as he is intelligent, has a fantastic sense of humor, AND he’s a BHS 2022 senior! Meet Dayton!

The Austin family moved to Bartlesville just before Dayton’s sophomore year in high school. I think I’ve mentioned this before, but I was in a similar situation when I was his age! My parents and I moved from Plano, TX to Lake Forest, IL when I was 15, so I have a soft spot for those who experience a cross-country move in the middle of very formative years. Dayton seems to be fitting right in with Oklahoma life, and we had a blast with him and his parents for his senior photos. Seriously! The three of them together were a hoot and I think Jonathan had just as much fun talking with his mom and dad as Dayton and I did shooting! We started at the Bartlesville High School track for this cross-country and track superstar, and then moved downtown for a few “hometown” shots with a little bit of a skyline view! It was the perfect evening!

I think one of my favorite parts of the sessions was popping over just south of the high school to a little grassy grove area. We drive by it just about every day, and I knew when we pulled up to BHS this night that I’d want to give it a shot as a secondary location. Dayton spends a ton of his free time hunting and fishing, and while we didn’t make it out to their land for this session, we were able to capture more of the natural/outdoorsy vibe with a few photos right by the high school and I was SO glad we did! There is something to be said for convenient locations that provide flexibility and variety! I think we ended up with 6-7 different “locations” from this session (the track, bleachers, field, grassy area, rooftop view, street view, and gold doors) even though we were really only in two separate physical locations. That is how you make the most of an hour together!

I know it can be tough for guys to get in front of the camera and loosen up, but Dayton was a trooper and made the most of his senior experience! I know I always feel so special and pampered after Jonathan and I get photos taken, and I hope we were able to replicate that feeling for him for his senior photos! We’re big fans of you, Dayton!! Thank you Austin family for inviting us to help celebrate!!
