Welcome to the Melanie Foster Blog

celebrating OU seniors and Bartlesville and Tulsa families through photography.

Hey, y’all!

I’m Melanie, the girl behind the lens at Melanie Foster Photography. Whether you’re getting ready for your upcoming OU senior or your Bartlesville or Tulsa family photography experience, I hope you’ll stay a while, pick up a few tips, and be inspired for your own MFP photo session!

Seniors

This season has been both rejuvenating and chaotic. I’ve loved being at home, not wearing makeup, my every day Lululemon uniform, the flexibility of working from home, and the general simplicity of life. On the other hand, there have been weeks that are entirely overwhelming and stress-inducing, both at OU and with MFP. I’ve sent more emails to my girls this spring than I ever have before, and I’m definitely still adjusting to my new full-time role in Marketing & Communications. I wouldn’t trade it – I love both and am doing my best to be faithful in my responsibilities and performance in both, but I put a lot of pressure on myself. My standards feel unreachable at times, especially when there is a lot on my plate (Oh, and hi wedding planning!)

To give you a little bit of insight – my typical post-shoot schedule is to cull, edit, and deliver galleries as efficiently as possible. My goal is to deliver the gallery the same day that a blog goes out. I haven’t been able to maintain that pace this year, and while I still feel confident in my turnaround time for final gallery deliveries (those take priority!), it’s more of the “fun side” that is falling behind – celebrating my girls on Instagram, sharing IG stories, and writing about our time together! I’m hoping to play catch up this week, so if you’re a frequent visitor, or just feel like encouraging me, leave a little easter egg or note in the comments on my most recent IG post so that I know you’re holding me accountable to follow through!

Sweet Shannon found me through Delight, which is always such a treat! She shared a bit about her college experience with me, and one of my favorite takeaways was that she has the most endearing and intentional group of girlfriends. She met most of them on her hall her freshman year, and a few of them even showed up to our shoot mid-way through to say hello! Also – Shannon is graduating in three years – what an accomplishment! We both share a passion for OU Football and all things Anthropologie…two easy ways to my heart!

Congratulations, Shannon! You’re a classic beauty!
